A backsplash cut from the same slab as your countertop reads as one continuous surface, with no grout lines to catch grease or discolour over time. Because we fabricate every slab in-house, a matching backsplash is a cutting decision, not a separate order — the veining and colour carry straight up the wall.
It is also simply easier to keep clean. A single wiped-down surface behind a range or sink outperforms grouted tile in a kitchen that sees daily use.

The wall behind a range takes more heat and grease than any other surface in the kitchen. Granite and quartzite tolerate direct heat well; quartz needs a small buffer from anything scorching-hot. We’ll flag the right material once we know where your range sits.

It’s usually a modest add-on to a countertop order, since the slab is already being cut. Cost depends on the run length and how many cut-outs it needs around outlets and windows — we quote it as part of your countertop project.
Is a stone backsplash a good idea?
For most kitchens, yes. A single continuous surface with no grout is easier to clean, matches your countertop exactly, and holds up to daily cooking better than most tile.
Should a backsplash be lighter or darker than the countertop?
Either works. Matching the countertop slab gives the most seamless look; a contrasting tone can make the counter or the backsplash the visual focal point — it’s a style choice, not a technical one.
