The Island
Kitchen Islands & Waterfall Edges
The island is usually the focal point of a kitchen renovation, and it is where slab selection matters most. Because we fabricate in-house from large-format slabs, we can lay out a single continuous piece across an island top rather than piecing together seams that break up veining.
This same slab inventory makes a waterfall edge possible: the countertop material continues seamlessly over the side of the island down to the floor, turning a single slab into a full architectural feature rather than just a work surface. Waterfall edges read as a premium detail because they are labour- and material-intensive to fabricate correctly, with mitred corners cut and polished to align the stone’s pattern across the vertical drop.
Not every material is equally suited to a waterfall application, and slab size varies by lot, so island and waterfall plans are worth discussing early, before a material is finalized.
Fabrication Details
Sink Cutouts, Backsplashes & Edge Profiles
Beyond the slab itself, several fabrication details separate a kitchen countertop from a bathroom vanity or bar top. Sink cutouts need to be templated precisely against the actual sink or faucet you plan to install, whether that is an undermount, farmhouse apron, or drop-in style, since the reveal and support ledge differ for each.
Backsplashes can be cut from the same slab as the countertop for continuous veining up the wall, or paired with tile for contrast. Edge profiles, from a simple eased edge to a full bullnose or ogee, change both the look and the feel of the counter’s perimeter and are chosen at the same time as the sink and faucet layout so everything lines up on install day.

From there, fabrication happens entirely in-house at our Springfield facility, where slabs already in our inventory are cut, polished, and finished to that template rather than special-ordered and waited on.
Because the material is in stock and the fabrication is under our own roof, we can commit to a schedule most fabricators cannot: in stock, fabricated in-house, installed in five days. How long does a kitchen countertop installation take?
From template to finished installation, our standard timeline is five days, made possible because slabs are in stock and fabrication happens in-house rather than being outsourced.
Can I keep my existing cabinets?
In most cases, yes. Templating is done directly against your existing cabinetry, and new countertops are fabricated to fit that layout, including any adjustments needed for a new sink or cooktop.
Do I need to remove my old countertop myself?
No. Removal of the existing countertop is part of our installation process and is coordinated as part of your project timeline, not something you need to arrange separately.
